Denise Pikes
Denise Pikes is a dedicated Community Leader with the League of Women Voters of Proviso Township. She discovered the Citizen Advocacy Center through a league member and neighbor who spoke highly of CAC’s role in promoting civic-mindedness and education.
Pikes’ involvement with CAC has ranged from attending Center-hosted events to drawing on its community lawyering services while engaging in local advocacy. One of her initial interactions with CAC involved learning about the Freedom of Information Act. CAC provided invaluable guidance about her options and what steps to take to gain access to government-held data, she said. This experience empowered her to use her voice effectively and leverage available resources.
The impact of CAC on Pikes’ growth has been profound. “Knowledge is power”, she emphasized, and CAC’s commitment to educating individuals enables them to speak out and hold sway over community matters.
For Pikes, CAC signifies empowerment and resourcefulness. She views the Center as a vital community resource, always ready to help and create a space for open dialogue about important issues. Furthermore, Pikes appreciates CAC’s ability to simplify complex legal concepts and processes, making them accessible to everyone.
