The Elmhurst-based Citizen Advocacy Center is a 25-year old, dynamic, award-winning, nonprofit community legal organization dedicated to building democracy in the 21st century by strengthening the public’s capacities, resources, and institution.
CAC seeks a dynamic person who supports our mission and will fulfill duties of an office manager and assistant to a small staff. The ideal candidate is a team player, highly motivated, and detail-oriented with organizational skills as well as excellent computer and web skills, such as working knowledge of Salesforce, Constant Contact, Adobe PDF Editor, Adobe Indesign, Photoshop, Excel and various Google tools.
Primary responsibilities include office management, staff assistance, fundraising assistance, and website maintenance.

Office Management Duties include:
- Open and close CAC on a daily basis during regular business hours.
- Maintain a professional and welcoming environment for visitors to CAC including the public, public officials, volunteers, donors, and foundation representatives.
- Answer phones and general email communications, make appropriate referrals, and respond to routine requests for information.
- Update and maintain all general organizational records and databases (paper, computer and cloud). . Records include, but are not limited to, activity logs, corporate records, finance records, existing and new work product, organization calendar and constituent contact database).
- Ensure office is running in optimal fashion, including arranging for maintenance repairs and technical service when needed, and maintaining all office supplies.
- Act as a liason to organization’s contractors.
General Staff Assistant Duties:
- Expedite the delivery of community lawyering services through activities that include compiling information, making copies, and organizing community events.
- Assist CAC staff to optimally work with a diverse array of volunteers, including recruiting student interns and adult volunteers and coordinating volunteer activity, especially related to general organizational needs (such as bulk mailing and community events).
Assistant to the Executive Director Including Fundraising Duties:
- Assist the Executive Director in broad fundraising activities, which include but are not limited to planning and coordinating community and special events, compiling grant documents, and coordinating individual donor outreach.
- Update and maintain donor database and integrate content into general contact database for optimal use.
- Execute delivery of varied correspondence to donors and the general public that includes solicitations and donor acknowledgements through avenues such as individual communications, bulk mail, email, and social media.
- Assist in layout of newsletter and other print communications, coordinate production with printer and facilitate bulk mailing.
- Assist the Executive Director to facilitate communications with Board of Directors, plan quarterly board meetings, compile and distribute meeting packets for board members.
Social Media Duties:
- Maintain website often to keep content current .
- Regular posting to CAC’s social media pages (Facebook and Twitter).
Compensation: $26,000 annually, with growth potential in accordance with growth of the organization and job performance.
