Benjamin Silver, JD,  Community Lawyer

Ben Silver joined the Citizen Advocacy Center staff in April 2016. As a community lawyer, Mr. Silver assists clients with legal questions, monitors local governments, and ensures public access to government. Mr. Silver is also the internship program director at CAC. 

Mr. Silver previously served as a Legal Fellow in the Office of Congressman Sander Levin, where he advised the Congressman and his staff on campaign finance reform and voting rights. While attending Georgetown University Law Center, Mr. Silver served as a student lawyer in Georgetown’s Federal Legislation and Administrative Clinic. At the Clinic, he worked with the National Women’s Law Center to advocate for the Student Non-Discrimination Act. Mr. Silver also worked as an enforcement intern for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s Washington Field Office, where he investigated claims of workplace discrimination.

Mr. Silver was raised in Buffalo Grove, Illinois. He attended Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, where he competed on the varsity track and cross country teams. Mr. Silver earned a degree in Quantitative Economics from Tufts University in Massachusetts. He is a member of the Illinois bar.
